Welcome to On the Box

There are big changes coming to iiNet TV with Fetch. We know that change can be a scary thing, so feel free to get a cup of tea or a tub of ice-cream before reading on. We’ll wait.

...

Ready?

From the start of July, we’ll be adding some exciting new channels on a free trial period until the end of the month. We don’t want to spill the beans just yet, but what we can tell you is that there will be something for everyone.

While you wait, we have got you covered for content this month with some fresh movies and TV shows. Denzel Washington is at his superb best in Flight, a tale of heroism and intrigue about a doomed flight, a miraculous escape and a troubling investigation. Silver Linings Playbook, featuring Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro, spins a tale of redemption and self-discovery. Combine this with the cult hit Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and you have two movies which are guaranteed to keep you glued to your TV.

For those who are looking for action, you can’t go past Tarantino’s latest movie Django Unchained, while seekers of comedy will love Snow Dogs, starring Cuba Gooding Jr and a pack of sled dogs.

Have a great month and remember … change is coming!

Set in the American South two years before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty.

Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago. Django and Schultz's search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of "Candyland," an infamous plantation.

What's new?

ABC iView

The long-awaited arrival of ABC iView on iiNet TV will see the service added - free, of course - to your set-top box marked as “Catch-up TV”, and will be made available to all iiNet TV customers. This will be launched in July, so keep an eye on your set-top box menus.

Football club channels

Fans of our club football channels would have noticed their absence lately. Due to licensing issues, we were unable to renew the channels for another year so unfortunately they have been removed from the EPG.

The good news is that we still have amazing sports offerings in the form of our two ESPN channels. We have been running an extended free trial of these channels, which has now been extended until the end of July, so be sure to check them out! We also have Setanta, which broadcasts a huge number of sporting events from across the globe for only $14.95 a month. You can subscribe right now, using your iiNet TV remote, on the “Subscriptions” page.

Red Bull and Weatherzone

We’d also like to mention that at the end of this month, the Red Bull content will sadly be leaving us due to licensing reasons, as well as the Weatherzone channel. If you still want to check the weather from your iiNet TV service, you can use our free app located in the set-top box menu under Apps -> Featured Apps. Simply enter any location in Australia and it will show you the current weather plus a seven day forecast.

What's on this month

Glory Hounds is a two hour, first of its kind special. Animal Planet's filmmakers were granted unprecedented access to embed three camera crews among MWD (Military Working Dogs) teams in some of the most volatile regions in Afghanistan, where tens of thousands of military service men and women risk their lives every day.

Serving beside them are approximately 600 military working dogs whose sole purpose is to protect soldiers and innocent civilians. These specialised dogs are highly trained to do what no man or technology can. In Glory Hounds, some dogs and handlers come home, some return forever changed and some don't come home at all.

With nothing but time on their hands, every prisoner fantasises about escape. While few actually attempt to breakout, some prisoner's ingenuity and sheer audaciousness sees them successfully use obscure objects to bust out of some of the most secure prisons in the world.

Each breakout is told by the dangerous and often highly intelligent criminals who escape and the professional, determined law enforcement teams who hunt them down.
