iiNet's superfast broadband expansion launches in Darwin

15 February 2012: - More than 23,500 households and businesses throughout the Darwin suburbs now have access to fast Internet speeds and a more competitive broadband market, after iiNet switched on its new high-speed broadband equipment at three metropolitan telephone exchanges in the suburbs of Casuarina, Nightcliff and Palmerston today.

iiNet already provides superfast ADSL2+ services at the central Darwin exchange, but these recent network upgrades, made possible by the Regional Backbone Blackspots Program, will ensure more people in greater Darwin have access to competition.

iiNet, along with its family of brands including Westnet and Internode, are the first Internet Service Providers to offer ADSL2+ broadband services using the Internet infrastructure built as part of the Australian Government's Regional Backbone Blackspots Program.

Michael Malone, Chief Executive Officer of iiNet, said the company was committed to bringing real competition, better service and competitive pricing to more areas around Australia in the lead up to the National Broadband network.

"The NBN rollout will take time, but from today more households and businesses in the Norhern Territory will be able to enjoy the benefits of superfast broadband," Mr Malone said.

The network expansion ensures that the iiNet group of companies continues to have the largest competitive ADSL broadband network in the country.

"Customers in Casuarina, Nightcliff and Palmerston can now enjoy faster, more affordable Internet over our own network."

iiNet's broadband plans can be teamed with a Netphone service for cheaper phone calls, or combined with our tv package access to our subscription television service, tv, plus awesome customer service all in one package."
