iiNet's superfast broadband brings competition to Regional Queensland

13 February 2012 - More than 15,000 households and businesses in areas of Regional Queensland will have access to fast Internet speeds and a more competitive broadband market after iiNet announced its latest regional network expansion plans.

iiNet, along with its family of brands including Westnet and Internode, is continuing its multi-million dollar investment into Australia's regional areas with Dalby, Emerald and Mount Isa being the next to receive major network upgrades".

iiNet is the first Internet Service Provider to offer ADSL2+ broadband services using the Internet infrastructure built as part of the Australian Government's Regional Backbone Blackspots Program.

Michael Malone, Chief Executive Officer of iiNet, said the company was committed to bringing real competition, better service and competitive pricing to more areas around Australia.

"While we're looking forward to the NBN rolling out around the country, it will take time so we're making sure more households and businesses can enjoy the benefits of superfast broadband in the meantime," Mr Malone said.

"These network expansion plans, which extend to areas in the Northern Territory, cement our position of having the largest competitive ADSL broadband network in the country."

"Our focus is on connecting people with their family and friends and our customers in Dalby, Emerald and Mount Isa will soon be able to connect more affordably and more easily. By teaming up any of our broadband plans with our Netphone service, you'll get cheaper phone calls, fast and reliable Internet, access to our subscription television service, tv, plus awesome customer service all in one package."
