You can sign up online or over the phone with one of our friendly Sales representatives on 13 19 17. Make sure you have your credit card or direct debit details handy before you begin the signup process.
We will send you several notifications via SMS and e-mail throughout the application process. If you don't hear from us during the application process then you can request an update directly from our Provisioning team by calling 1300 634 515 between 8am - 8pm local times, Monday to Friday.
We can convert your current landline phone number into a VoIP service called iiTalk. This means you won't need to go through the hassle of getting a new phone number and having everyone forget it!
This needs to be requested during the signup process as once the Naked DSL application is complete, we will be unable to convert your number.
Please note: The above process only applies to numbers owned by our wholesaler. Generally, most providers will give you a number which can which can be ported to VoIP. Other providers who own their own voice networks, like Optus and Primus, generally own their own numbers, so these numbers are not able to be ported due a lack of an agreement between iiNet, our wholesaler and those providers.
If you are unsure, please call our Sales team on 13 19 17.
There will generally be a few hours of downtime on the connection date while our wholesaler's technicians perform work at your telephone exchange. Once this work has been completed and iiNet has been notified, your service should start to work within 24 hours. If you require assistance with setting up your broadband hardware, please give our Support team a call on 13 22 58.
Once your service is connected, all you'll need to get up and running is an ADSL Broadband Modem. You can either purchase hardware through us on sign-up, or bring your own modem from your previous provider if you've already had an ADSL service before.
Be aware though, if you plan on using your iiTalk service to make and recieve phone calls, you want to make sure you have a VoIP enabled modem. Lucky for you, all of our modems come VoIP enabled out of the box.
When iiNet is told the date that your Naked DSL service is to be installed, we automatically dispatch your hardware to your nominated delivery address. Depending on your location it can take between 3-5 working days for your hardware to be delivered.
In most cases you shouldn't need to do anything with your current phone provider. However if you are currently experiencing a fault with your landline service then it is strongly recommended that you work with your provider to get this resolved before requesting Naked DSL.
Our Naked DSL plans come with generous quotas, however if you're finding your plan just isn't cutting it you've got a couple of options available to you. Most of our plans will allow you to change up in plan at no additional cost to you, and the plan change usually happens within 24 hours. If you decide to downgrade your plan later, that's also fine and easy to do via Toolbox. Changing to a cheaper plan incurs a one off plan change fee of $29.
Alternatively, if you've found that you've gone over quota, but you don't think it's worth changing plan completely, you can purchase a Data Pack at any time over the month. Data Packs extend your current quota and provides you with extra usage for the remainder of your month, without having to worry about changing your plan.
Naked DSL connections usually take between 10-20 working days from the time of application to the date of connection.
It is not required to have an active landline service at your premises in order to get Naked DSL. However there are some conditions which need to be met otherwise we may receive a rejection notice from our wholesaler when the application is submitted.
As mentioned above, there are times that we may receive a rejection from our wholesaler due to some conditions not being met. These are normally caused by issues identifying what line to use when setting up Naked DSL.
There must have been a prior landline service active at the premises. iiNet needs to be able to nominate a current active or inactive phone line to use for Naked DSL. If there is no line to select from then a phone service will need to be set up prior to your Naked DSL application, at a cost.
If there have been multiple lines previously active at the premises then we will require the last connected number for one of these lines before we can proceed with your application. The best way to obtain this number is to connect a telephone handset to the socket which you want your Naked DSL service to be connected to, dial 127 22 123, and listen to the recorded announcement. You can then give the provided number to us and we can continue with the setup of your Naked DSL service. If no number is read out to you, then give our Sales team a call on 13 19 17.
If you are in a house, there must already be a cable running from a socket in your premises to the main telephone network. This cable is called a 'lead-in'. If you do not have one before signing up for Naked DSL then one will need to be installed by a licensed contractor prior to the application for Naked DSL. Please call our Sales team on 13 19 17 if you are unsure whether you have a lead-in cable. If you don't, then we can do our best to assist you in getting one installed.
If you are in an apartment building, the Naked DSL service will be installed up to your building's main distribution frame, as this is the edge of our wholesaler's network. Any cabling from your premises to this frame will need to be installed prior to the Naked DSL application being submitted. We recommend checking with your building manager to get this organised.
Your landline rental service will be cancelled as part of your Naked DSL application, so don't worry, we will take care of this for you.
We can submit a Naked DSL application and nominate an inactive phone line, so you don't need to have it re-connected.
You are not required to be home on the day that your Naked DSL service is scheduled to be connected, as the work will be carried out at your telephone exchange.
If we have to connect a phone service to your premises prior to the application for Naked DSL, this may require an on-site appointment. Our Provisioning team will let you know if an appointment is required.
This is the account number associated with all landline services that allows porting between providers. It is normally found in the top right-hand corner of your phone bill. In order to move your number across to iiNet, you must provide this number to us when we submit your application. If you are not sure of your account number, please call your phone provider, who can provide it to you.
If we have provided you with an iiTalk number, it will be activated within 48 hours of your Naked DSL connection date.
Numbers which need to be ported over to us can take between 1-5 working days after your Naked DSL is connected, during which time the number is not able to be used.
Your landline phone will continue to work as normal up until the Naked DSL connection date. Once the Naked DSL service is connected, please see the above.
By default, your iiTalk number will not be listed in the Whitepages. You are able to have your number placed back into the Whitepages using your iiNet Toolbox, or by calling our Support team on 13 22 58.
You can contact your previous provider and request that they convert your phone number back to a standard landline service. This process normally takes between 1-3 weeks however this is dependent on the other provider so we recommend checking with them.
Please note: This should be performed before calling us to confirm the cancellation of your Naked DSL service. If this is performed afterwards, you may incur additional downtime.
