email hoax warning
Take Note:
We've noticed that a fraudulent email claiming to be from iiNet Support has been in circulation recently. The subject line reads 'Attn: Esteemed IINET.NET WEBMAIL Subscriber:' and asks customers to reply to the email with their iiNet username and password. Below is a copy of the email text:
Attn: Esteemed IINET.NET WEBMAIL Subscriber:
This mail is to inform all our {IINET.NET WEBASED EMAIL} users that we will be upgrading our site in the next couple of days. Therefore as a Subscriber, you are required to send us your Email account details so as to enable us know if you are still making effective use of your mailbox.
More so, be informed that all mailbox accounts rated 'Rx1cs' (dormant) will be deactivated so as to create more space for new users. You are to send us the following details of your mailbox:
*Username:
*Password:Failure to do this will immediately render your mailbox inactive or deleted from our database.
Your response should be sent to the following e-mail address.
Your Admin/Support Manager
If you do receive this email, please delete it immediately. iiNet will never ask you to confirm your password via email because of the security implications. If you ever receive an email that asks you to do so, make sure you check with iiNet Support before responding by calling us or emailing a copy of the email to support@iinet.net.au.
If you've already replied to this hoax email, we recommend you reset your password straight away by visiting toolbox or by calling our support team on 13 22 58.
