Welcome members to another edition of iiNews!
We have another jam packed issue this month, with heaps of exciting
new offers! There's no excuse for not making the change to broadband
if you're on dialup now, because we have reduced the set up
fee for our bliink and wiink accounts and we've even
reduced the fast churn fee for Telstra BigPond customers to $0 for
a short time only! In other news, our iiPhone service is now available
to all iiNet dialup and broadband customers as a stand alone product.
We also have a range of awesome prizes to be won in our Competitions
section, along with those up for grabs in our "Create Your
Own iiAd" comp. If you've ever had an idea for iiAd this
is your chance to shine!
But of course that's not all you'll find in this month's
edition, so read on to find out all the latest info on iiNet and
what we've got in store for our members in the next few months!
Joanne Large
iiNet Editor

Name: Gloria Schenk
Account Type: Atlantis Account
Customer Since: August 2003
Gloria is a grandmother of six who spends her spare time gardening
and enjoys needle work. She first started using the Internet after
her family bought her a computer for her birthday last year.
What made you decide to use the Internet?
My family said it would be good for me, and it has really helped
me with my searches for British stamps and family history.
Why did you choose iiNet?
Well after my family bought me the computer my granddaughter told
me I had to join with iiNet, because she works there! It has been
really easy for me to use, because she set it all up for me.
What do you mainly use the Internet for?
I send emails to my family in the UK, US and Holland to keep in
touch with them. My husband uses the Internet for his football tipping
and we both use it for general web searching.

Name: Lizz Saunders
Title: Customer Consultant - Sales
How long have you been with iiNet? 12 Months in
June
What does your job involve?
My job involves working with a fantastic team of customer consultants!
We all work hard to provide our existing and potential customers
with account information. We try to find accounts/plans that really
suit our members.
Why did you move to Perth when iiNet merged with TasAccess?
Over the 12 months that I was working in the Launceston TasAccess
Office I developed great relationships with many of our members.
In order to continue working with them I needed to work out of the
Perth iiNet office. So I moved, and here I am 12 months later still
working with the fabulous customers here at iiNet.
Where do you see iiNet in five years?
I believe that iiNet will continue to grow strongly over the next
few years. I think that we will surpass all expectations. iiNet
has huge potential and I think it is possible for iiNet to go from
its current position of 5th largest ISP in Australia to be among
the largest 2nd or 3rd.

iiNet
are pleased to announce that we are now selling the NEW D-Link
DSL-504G. The 504G will enable up to 4 computers to share the
same Broadband connection, without any additional routing hardware!
Best of all, it's only $139!
As of next week, all new clients waiting on ADSL activation who
have ordered the older DSL-300, DSL-500 or DSL-504 models will
be upgraded to the new 504G at the reduced price of $139.
More information can be found at: http://www.iinet.net.au/products/setup-options.html

The security of our client's computers has always been a concern
for us here at iiNet. In an effort to decrease customer vulnerability
to viruses, trojans and the like, iiNet has introduced additional
port security measures on our network.
Based on the very successful security measures already in place
for bliink Home Clients, all dynamic IP address accounts,
whether they be dial up (such as the Discovery, Atlantis, Freedom,
Liberty and Explorer) or ADSL (bliink Home and wiink), now have
the following security features introduced:
-
Inbound
Port Blocking: Port 25 (smtp), Port 80 (http), Port 139 (netbios/ipx)
, Port 443 (https) and Port 445 (smb) will be blocked.
-
Outbound
Port Blocking: Port 25 (smtp) will be blocked, except for iiNet
mailservers. By default all the above ports will be blocked
for increased client security, with the exception being any
ADSL clients who have unblocked these ports already.
iiNet understands the requirement to customise these settings,
and as such have made these options adjustable via our Toolbox
interface at https://toolbox.iinet.net.au/

Did you know you can add credit to your Prepaid account without
calling our friendly iiNet Support Team? You just go to the Toolbox
located at https://toolbox.iinet.net.au
and login with your username and password, it's that simple!

This month's Gaming Tips go to fans of the Sony PlayStation2
game Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Hit with Flipendo- When Prefects come at you
with Locomotmortis, hit them with Filendo and they will stop in
their tracks.
Use Nimbus 2000 Broomstick- if you want to fly
above Hogwarts. Fly through the rings to get free Beans. A blue
ring gives 10 beans, a red ring gives 3 beans, a green ring gives
2 beans, and a yellow ring gives 1 bean.
Save and reload- When you have the key to the
Confiscated items room, just save and reload and the 200 Bean
Bag will be back. You can repeat this every time you need more
Beans.
Lower Bean Price- When you ask a student to trade
a wizard card and he or she asks you for too many Beans, click
on "No" move some steps back and ask again. The quantity
of Beans will be reduced.

We have reduced the set up fee on all bliink and wiink
broadband accounts from $99 to $89.
The downgrade fee on ADSL accounts has also been reduced from
$39 to $19. Please remember that the downgrade fee is applied
when changing accounts to one of an equal or lesser monthly value.
When the value of the plan is higher, the upgrade is free! All
pending ADSL orders (those waiting for activation) will be honoured
at the reduced rate.
In addition to this the Telstra BigPond Fast Churn Fee will remain
at $0 until the end of June! Basically this means that members
currently signed up with Bigpond ADSL wanting to migrate to iiNet through
the online application can do so without incurring the regular
setup fee. This promotion will end on the 30th of June 2004.
So what better excuse for you to refer your family and friends
to iiNet and get great rewards today!
 Here's
your chance to use your creativity to its full potential and create
your very own iiAd; as per the banner ads that rotate on our home
page. You can send us your ideas in any format you like, from a
crayon drawing on A4 paper to a computer generated image. You can
even send through a description of what you would like the ad to
be and we'll work from that (the ad must be advertising an iiNet
product or service). The competition has four categories:
1) ADSL products
2) Dial Up Products
3) iiPhone
4) Gaming Technology
So, what are the prizes?
First Prize: The winner of EACH category (ie:
four first prize winners) will get their choice of $100 to spend
at Coles Myer or Rebel Sport or Electronics Boutique or 8 passes
to the movies and 8 candy bar vouchers. PLUS their very own bag
of iiGoodies.
Runners Up: Four lucky runners up in each category
(16 in total) will receive $50 to spend at their choice of the
following stores; Coles Myer, Rebel Sport, Electronics Boutique
or 4 passes to the movies and four candy bar vouchers!
How does it work?
You have until May 31st to submit your entries to competitions@iinet.net.au
with the subject line iiAd. If you would prefer to post a copy
you can do so to the following address: iiAds Competition
Locked Bag 16 Cloisters Square WA 6850
How will the winner/s be selected?
iiNet's Marketing department will determine the top five ads during
the first week of June. Advertisements will be selected based
on their wit and content alone. Style and layout will not affect
the decision as this can be altered by the Graphics Department.
The winner will be notified by phone and once all the nitty gritty
stuff is sorted out we'll announce who he / she is! To get a list
of the Terms and Conditions please email competitions@iinet.net.au
with 'Terms' in the subject line and one will automatically be
sent to you. It's that easy!
So get creative and send us your entry today!
Great news - we are pleased to announce that ADSL has extended its
reach! Up until now ADSL was only available to people who lived
within 3.5km from their telephone exchange due to signal loss past

previously been rejected for broadband you may now be eligible.

Hello to everyone,
Firstly let me introduce myself, my name is Shirley Freedman and
I look after the Sales Team here at the iiNet call centre.
So how can sales help you, the customer?
Well our aim here at iiNet is to provide you with a solution to
your Internet connectivity needs by making sure that when you
become a part of iiNet you have the best product to suit your
needs. We are here to listen to what you need and then match you
with the very best product...Some questions we might ask you when
you call us are:
- What will you be using the Internet for?
- How long are you likely to be online?
- How many people are going to be using the Internet?
The reason we ask these questions is that we want to help you
by matching your needs to the best product available. We are here
to help you so if you have any questions at all please do not
hesitate to ask us. Have a wonderful month!
- Shirley Freedman

After last month's member feedback we had a huge number of responses
with other customers wanting to air their views! But the main thing
you've said is that you'd also like to hear about some of the negative
feedback that we receive, so below we have included a sample of
both positive and negative feedback!
Positive Feedback
- Just to let you know how impressed I am with iiNet, especially
with its Managing Director, Michael Malone. I had a problem
recently which for another ISP would probably mean being passed
around from department to department without really solving
the problem, but to my surprise, I got an email from Michael
Malone, who took care of the situation himself and soon after
my problem was solved!
- Having just joined "iiNet" last week can I say
what a refreshing start it is to have such an informative newsletter
arrive so quickly. I really appreciate that personal touch.
Negative Feedback
- I am concerned that iiNet is joining the Telstra Club.
I have applied for a bliink upgrade on two separate occasions
and sent follow up email enquiries all without any response.
Lift your game iiNet!
- Your newsletter print is too small & very difficult
to read!! I gave up the struggle!!

We recommend you update your password quarterly so that your account
is kept safe - Remember that even a great password doesn't help
you if you write it down and leave it somewhere where other people
can read it, or if you tell a friend.
Your
iiNet password must be a minimum of nine characters in length. It
must include two of the following features: letters, numbers, punctuation
or capitals. Choosing a random looking password doesn't have to
be as hard as it sounds. Here are some tips:
- Use two or more words that you can remember, and put punctuation
in between. For example, choose three words, and put semi colons
or numbers in between the words.
- Use two or more words or names, and misspell them.
- Think of a sentence. Maybe a quote from your favourite book
or poem, or a character on television. Now use the first letter
of each word in your sentence to make up a password.
- Many people choose passwords which just have letters in them.
If you use a mixture of upper and lower case letters, numbers,
and punctuation, then you're making it harder and harder for
someone to guess your password.
- If you're careful with the choice and security of your password,
you can get on with enjoying your time on the Internet!

Refer
a Friend- Don't forget to keep referring your family and/or
friends to iiNet. Remember for each and every friend that joins
us you'll both score some great gifts. You can find more information
at http://www.friend.iinet.net.au
Keep your eyes peeled for a new gift... appearing soon!
New
National Fax Number!
As part of our ongoing improvements for our customers we have just
introduced a new National Fax Number: 13 32 58
This of course means that every customer can fax forms to us using
the same number, regardless of their location in Australia, which
will be great for those of you who travel!

How
do I limit the amount of email I store on the iiNet server?
You simply click here http://www.iinet.net.au/support/softwareindex.html
and choose your email program. You then choose the "Disable leave
mail on server option" and follow the instructions. This will download
your emails to your third party mail server rather than leaving
them on our servers.
If
I have an issue that isn't supported by iiNet who can I contact?
In the rare cases where we don't provide support for your query
please visit http://www.iinet.net.au/support/othersupport.html
for a list of third party support providers who may be able to help
you.
How
can I find out how many email addresses I have linked to my account?
Just log into the Toolbox at https://toolbox.iinet.net.au/
and you will find a list of your email addresses, along with your
account type.
To win any of the prizes in this month's newsletter email competitions@iinet.net.au
with the name of the prize (and the CD/ DVD name if applicable)
