So what else is in the April newsletter? Well we're committed to keeping you informed, so we have heaps of information on our new products like the insanely cheap dialup Explorer + iiPhone for $19.95 offer! If you're not ready to make the leap to one of our low price wiink broadband plans or our award winning bliink broadband plans just yet, then this new bundle offer will make your Internet and phone bills even cheaper! Don't forget that you can also get some great rewards through our Refer a Friend promotion just by getting your friends to sign up on one of our great new iiPhone bundle deals.
With all this and great competitions to be won, what more could you want in a monthly newsletter? If you think of anything else, please let us know by emailing media@iinet.net.au.
Until next month, on behalf of all the staff at iiNet I would like to wish you and your families a safe and happy Easter!
Joanne Large
iiNet Editor

Name: Herman Veltkamp
Account Type: bliink 256 lite
Customer Since: 2003
State: WA
With so many members wanting to be part of our Customer of the Month section we really surprised Herman with our call! He had volunteered for a Customer Profile by filling out a feedback survey at our Open Day last year in November and had forgotten all about it. Of course he was still very happy to have a quick chat with us about how and why he uses the Internet.
What do you mainly use the Internet for?
Email and occasionally for research. I would definitely recommend that iiNet members try out the Copernic Search Engine which uses 17 different search engines to find the term that you are searching for!
Why did you choose a broadband account?
This may sound funny, but one of the biggest changes of my life last year was getting a broadband account! It's stable, always on and pages load almost straight away. When I used to have a dialup account with another ISP I hesitated to go online in case someone phoned me. Now I'm more relaxed with my Internet searches as I can take my time.
Why did you choose iiNet as your ISP?
When I was looking for a broadband account I felt that there was only two choices, Telstra or iiNet, because I wanted someone with equipment on the Telstra exchange. iiNet won in the end because I like the fact that two people from Perth started the company, I always like to support the locals!

Name: Neshka Erbel
Title: Training Coordinator - working within a remarkable Human Resources Team
across the Tran Tasman.
How long have you been with iiNet?: 5 years in August.
What does your job involve?
Providing training services to all departments and individuals within the company. Anything from putting considerable training and qualifications structures in place for the organisation, with assistance from external consultants and as per our corporate goals, to providing induction training or negotiating individual staff training needs with the employee and their managers and booking appropriate training.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
There are so many wonderful aspects to my position. I love being able to contribute to the development of an employee and observe a person enjoy their job more because of some aspects of the training structures and opportunities in place. There are many companies out there saying that they invest in their staff, and we actually do.
Where do you think iiNet will be in five years time?
With the amazing growth of iiNet we should, in five years, be not only the largest but remain the best ISP in Australia. And who knows what other countries we will reach for, now that we are Trans-Tasman.

Visit our Games Forums at http://games.iinet.net.au/forums/ and sign up with your iiNet email address to get great member tools. You will be able to use the forums to get help, discuss the latest games, find out what other people are playing and have your say in how the games servers are run.

This month's tips go to fans of Basic Enemy Territory Tips/ Conduct
1. Try to keep teams even, if one side is being overrun constantly and you are one of the stronger players, swap over to the opposite team to even things up or vote for a team shuffle.
2. Listen to commands given/ requested by teammates. It's a team game and working together will get the objectives finished quicker and easier.
3. Don't make a complaint about a Team Kill unless it was obviously deliberate.
For example: If a Field Op calls an air strike and you then run into it and die it isn't his fault.

On Wednesday March 24 we released one of our best offers yet! The $19.95 Explorer account with preselect iiPhone not only lets you save on your dialup Internet connection, but you'll also save up to 30% on your phone calls by switching to iiNet's cheap phone rates.
Still need more convincing? There's no minimum spend on iiPhone AND you can view your current phone bill online 24 hrs a day, so there's no nasty surprises at the end of the month.
It sounds too good to be true, but it really isn't! Just combine our most popular dialup account the Explorer with iiPhone today and start saving 50% off the regular monthly price of Explorer.

We're all aware of spam: unwanted email that makes its way to our inbox selling, well just almost anything! As of 10th April 2004, all commercial messages delivered to your email address, phone account or messaging service will be liable to the conditions of the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), where the message originates in or is received in Australia.
A message is deemed commercial when its purpose is to supply or advertise goods or services, suppliers, business or investment opportunities. This also includes emails that may not be for a specific commercial purpose but contain links to commercial pages.
So what does this mean to you?
All emails you receive of a commercial nature must contain an unsubscribe facility, with information about who sent the email, and how they can be contacted. This means that when you click to unsubscribe, the sender is legally obliged to remove you from any further mailings.
Our monthly newsletter is technically covered by the Spam Act. Under the Act, it's ok for us to send the newsletter or other material to you, because we have an existing commercial relationship. But we still have to offer an unsubscribe facility, so you can choose to stop getting this newsletter if you would prefer.
Should you want to unsubscribe to this, or other types of future mailings from iiNet, you can do so by visiting our toolbox at this address: https://toolbox.iinet.net.au
The Act is sure to decrease the amount of spam you receive, but to decrease it even further you can use our spam tagging service. Further details can be found about this here:
http://www.iinet.net.au/support/iispam.html If you turn this on, you should see a noticeable reduction in unwanted mail each day!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team on 132258 or email support@iinet.net.au We hope this makes your iiNet experience even more enjoyable!

iiNet Wins Atomic Award

Thanks to everyone who helped us to be voted "ISP of the Year" in the April edition of Atomic Magazine! Below are some excerpts from the write up:
"It comes as no surprise that iiNet scores the crown for ISP of 2003.
iiNet continuously surprises us by updating and improving its service by leaps and bounds at no extra cost to the consumer.
The available plans offer loads of downloading for the price, but to top that all uploaded data, regardless of where it's headed, remains completely free.
Their most popular plan- bliink 512+ - really benefits from all the upgrades and changes and recently saw a boost from a 12GB download cap (6GB on/ off peak) to 32GB (16GB/ 16GB). Simply astounding - kudos to the iiNet team. As voted by you folk, it's the best Internet service provider around right now."

Ever wondered what our other members think of us? Well now's your chance to find out, as we're including a sample of your comments made each month below. Please remember that we want to hear it all: the good, the bad and the ugly, so please send your feedback to media@iinet.net.au.
- "...just wanted to pass on my thanks to each of you (if you can identify them) & say that iiNet not only fix problems, but also "respect" their customers wishes."
- "I would just like to say that I am very pleased with the service I have been getting from iiNet... I guess too many ISP's still don't realize the simple requirement of it's users. And it's not always top speed if it's delivered at 40% of the time. I like the fact that every time I switch my computer on at home things just work. The days of bitching and moaning about Telstra being down I hope are over for me."
- "I have been a user of your ADSL 512k plan for about a year now, and I have neglected to tell you just how very impressed I am at your service! I have also recommended about 15 people sign up for ADSL in my area with you and most have! I manage a local computer store and when people ask who to use, I always recommend your company!"

It's been just over six weeks since we launched our Refer a Friend Promotion in conjunction with Rebel Sport, Greater Union, Electronics Boutique and Coles Myer. The promotion has taken off, with well over 2000 customers being rewarded for referring their family and friends to iiNet.
So keep referring any of our great accounts and we'll keep rewarding! For further details please go to: www.friend.iinet.net.au

- The red satin iiBoxers have now arrived! NB: iiBoxers that were ordered in the March edition of iiNews are on the way, so please do not reorder unless you want more!
- If you have one of our great dialup Internet accounts and you haven't yet changed your dial-in number to 0198 379 000 please visit our changeover page http://www.iinet.net.au/support/numbers.html now! NB: If you are dialing from ACT you will need to contact iiNet on 13 2258 to obtain a dial-in number.
- The ADSL service qualification limit has recently been extended from 3.5kms to 4kms! If you were previously rejected when you applied for ADSL please call our friendly Sales Team on 13 19 17, you may be now eligible for one of our great bliink broadband plans!
In
order to maintain the high network efficiency you've grown to
love, we will be applying a mail spool size policy to email
accounts from Monday April 19. Once your mail exceeds the soft
limit of 50MB you will receive a daily email asking you to clear
out some of your mail. If your mail exceeds 100MB your emails
will start bouncing back to the sender.
This new limit only applies to clients that store email on iiNet's
server, as opposed to downloading to your own mail clients such as
Microsoft Outlook.
If you want to
start downloading to your own mail clients but don't know how, simply
visit the following support page
http://www.iinet.net.au/support/softwareindex.html and choose your
operating system. Then choose the "Disable leave mail on server
option" and follow the easy instructions. As always please feel free
to contact our 24/7 Support Team on 13 22 58 if you have any questions!

-
How can I reduce the size of mail stored on Webmail?
It's easy, you just download your email to a third party mail client like Outlook Express. To change your settings simply visit http://www.iinet.net.au/support/softwareindex.html and choose the "Disable Leave mail on server option" option for your operating system.
-
Where can I find a list of the iiNet Mailing Lists?
To find the names of all the public mailing lists available on lists.iinet.net.au please visit http://lists.iinet.net.au/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo
-
What can I do if my dialup modem is hanging up every 5 to 20 minutes?
This is a common problem when you have a fax machine or a telephone plugged into the same phone line as the modem. To solve this you can either unplug the phone when you use your modem, buy a new phone, or if you are renting your phone from Telstra (as most people do), they will probably replace it at no charge for a Touchphone 200R which solves this problem.

Album of the Month
The story of "george" is now a well-documented tale of success. This success is equal parts magic, hard work, relentless touring and incredible songs.
With the release of their debut single 'Still Real' last month, "george" {Tyrone Noonan, Katie Noonan, Geoff Green, Paulie Bromley and Nick Stewart} proved they are certain to build upon the extraordinary musical platform laid by their double-platinum album, 'Polyserena'. Lifted from their forthcoming sophomore album, 'Unity' (to be released on February 20, 2004), 'Still Real' has crept into the hearts of many and was a firm favourite during the band's recent national tour.
To find out more about "george" visit the Festival Mushroom Records site here: http://www.fmrecords.com.au/viewartist.cfm?ArtistId=233

Movie of the Month

The Cat in the Hat is set in a town called Anville where colour schemes run amok in pure picture-book style. The story is about real estate agent, Joan Walden (Kelly Preston) who works for the germ-obsessed, Mr Humberfloob (Sean Hayes) who fires people at the hint of a handshake. It's Joan's turn to give a staff party at her house which the finicky Humberfloob expects to be spotless for the occasion.
Joan has two kids - Conrad, who has a tendency to break rules and mess up, and a control freak called Sally, who meticulously plans her day-to-day activities. There is also a boyfriend on the scene, Lawrence Quinn, who has won over Sally with his smarmy charm. On the day of the party, Joan is anxious that the house remains immaculate, and she calls in babysitter, Mrs Kwan (Amy Hill) to look after the kids while she's at work.
Mrs Kwan almost instantly goes into a deep sleep when mum leaves and stays there for most of the movie. Conrad and Sally are bored because it's raining outside and there's nothing to do. Out of nowhere comes a talking, hat-wearing six-foot cat to take away the tedium... and create bedlam. Check out www.greaterunion.com.au for session times.
