iiNet VPN - how it works

VPN services run over iiNet's national Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network. Using this IP-based technology, data is routed between your sites in a quick and secure manner.

In addition to this, VPN data is prioritised above regular traffic (premium class of service), there's low latency, minimal variation, higher throughput, and the security is comparable to traditional frame delay and ATM networks - if you're not familiar with either those, rest assured they're very secure.

how vpn works

internet access

VPN services do not provide internet access by default. This is done to ensure private networks cannot be breached by unauthorised parties over the public internet.

Internet can be provided by proxy via a DSL service at one of the VPN sites. Local routing would need to be configured by a qualified IT consultant - we recommend using firewalls in these instances.

Our range of business broadband plans are available separately for internet access, with plan quotas applying for all internet usage.
