iiNet SIP Trunking - what do i need?

Okay, don't panic. Things are about to get a teeny bit technical. But it's simple really. To get SIP Trunking connected, all you need are:

  • a broadband connection
    SIP uses VOIP technology - which means it uses your broadband connection instead of your regular landline to make and receive calls. You'll need to make sure you've got an active broadband service for this to work.
  • an IP PBX (SIP Trunk gateway)
    An IP enabled Private Branch Exchange (PBX) acts as the SIP Trunk gateway, which your modem and handsets will connect to. The following manufacturers equipment has been tested and approved;
    • Mitel
    • Cisco Call Manager Express
    • Asterisk
    • Avaya
    • Digium
    • Trixbox Pro IP PABX
