Let's start with what SIP trunking isn't. It isn't a whole bunch of copper lines from big phone companies, used only sparingly but costing you a heap in line rental fees.
SIP Trunking is a business-grade voice solution that lets you choose the best balance of concurrently available lines, behind which regular telephone numbers are allocated to make and receive calls. Most businesses only need concurrent call capacity for a third of their employees - with SIP Trunking, you won't have to pay ongoing fees for unused lines.
All calls are made over the iiNet network meaning lower call costs and no flag fall fees.
