Business Cloud Features Tour
Power of Cloud
Cloud computing allows you to respond faster to the needs of your business by having all of your resources at your fingertips. It eliminates the need for physical servers, allowing you to increase capacity without having to invest in new hardware, software and infrastructure.
Features of cloud computing
Flexible: Scale your plan up or down according to your evolving business needs. This is particularly handy for times of unpredictable growth, variable workloads or temporary needs.
Saves you money: Lower your expenditure by only paying for what you use. Business Cloud will also save you the operational costs associated with developing, building and maintaining your own physical IT system.
Fast: Cloud computing can speed up the deployment time of virtual machines, multi-tier applications and Internet security quickly and easily. Waiting for servers and firewalls to be provisioned will soon become a thing of the past.
Self service: Manage, create and deploy on demand, based on your individual needs.
Hybrid clouds: No longer will you have to choose between a private or public cloud, Business Cloud allows you to deploy and transfer virtual machines from your own private cloud to your Business Cloud.
Business Cloud
Business Cloud puts you in the driver's seat with an easy to use web-based portal.
Think of Business Cloud as having your own virtual data centre to create and organise as many virtual machines as you like, but without the hassle of managing the underlying infrastructure. Some of the things you can do with Business Cloud's control panel are:
- start, stop, suspend, create or clone custom virtual machines
- install your choice of operating system and configure them as you wish
- set your own firewall security rules
- create storage and runtime leases on your virtual machines to prevent sprawl or a 'bill shock' when your monthly bill arrives
- diagnose your virtual machines with task and event logs
- mount local CD/DVD ROMs and ISOs to install software easily
- access to extensive online help documentation
- remote console to manage your virtual machines even when the operating system has issues
- set expiry times of virtual appliances

vApps
vApps diagram
vApps, or virtual apps, make managing your virtual machine easy.
Applications are often distributed over several virtual machines. With vApps when you need to restore your application or build a new instance of your application, thinking of the underlying virtual machines will be a thing of the past.
Catalogs, templates and virtual appliances
Business Cloud's catalogs allow you to manage your templates effortlessly. Choose from a list of publicly available catalogs and templates of preconfigured virtual machines or build your own customised catalogs and templates.
Correctly configured templates of virtual machines, operating systems and application configuration will help speed up the deployment process and your production output. Catalogs and templates are also a great way to ensure that only pre-approved virtual machines are created within your online environment.
Current steps needed to deploy an application
Choose from a list of thousands of virtual appliances that can be easily deployed in your catalogue. These virtual appliances are prepackaged and preconfigured software from various leading software vendors.
Connect existing clouds with Business vCloud connector
If you are already running VMware vSphere™, Business vCloud connector will allow you to manage your private and public cloud from within vSphere. This is the only product of its kind in the world that will allow you to have a true hybrid (private and public) cloud platform.
You can view and transfer VMs, vApps and templates between your public and private cloud. You can also directly deploy and manage your virtual machines onto iiNet's public cloud directly from your vSphere client.
Use your existing Microsoft licenses
Through Microsoft's License Mobility through Software Assurance program you can now use your existing Microsoft license on Business Cloud. Find out more on our Microsoft Mobility information page.
APIs
For the not-so-tech-savvy business owners out there, APIs (or Application Programming Interfaces) allow you or your IT specialist to build business applications and solutions that can be adjusted to your needs.
iiNet's Business Cloud APIs are accessible online, making them easy to integrate with a wide variety of platforms.
APIs not only save you on costs, they also shave time off your valuable IT resources by automating your business processes.
You can even use these APIs to integrate iiNet's Business Cloud platform into your existing processes.
With access to iiNet's Business Cloud API's you can interface with most programming languages:
Security
iiNet's Business Cloud comes with a range of Enterprise-Class security features to help keep your virtual environment protected.
You'll have full control of your virtual machines, allowing you to configure firewalls, port forwarding and IP translation rules, as well as enable DHCP and add additional static IP addresses.
Every virtual machine or vApp can be joined to their own private network. This allows you to create many different networks and segregate different workloads, departments or customers. Business Cloud also gives you the ability to 'fence' your vApps, meaning you can create multiple vApps within the same network (such as a test and production environment) without worrying about any potential network conflicts.
Role-based control allows you to create and modify users within your business. You can restrict access to different users, monitor usage and even set quotas. If you have your own directory services (LDAP or AD system) you can even integrate with iiNet's Business Cloud portal.
