iiNet broadband - what do i need?
Okay, relax. Take a deep breath. We're about to get technical. But it's all quite simple. And we'll guide you through every step. To get your broadband up and running, you'll need:
- phone line
First up, you'll need to have an active phone landline to your house, so your modem (or router) can connect to the internet. If you get your phone service through us along with your internet, we reward you with extra quota for your broadband. Learn about our phone products. - broadband modem or router
This is the box that connects you to the internet via the phone line. You can order one of ours and we'll also send you a handy setup CD to help you get online. - central filter
These little gadgets plug into your landline phone so your internet doesn't drop out when you make calls (you won't need these for VOIP calls). We'll send you one of these with any modem you purchase from us.
VOIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, a fancy way of saying cheap phone calls through your broadband cable, not your phone line. Learn more at Geek Speak.
