
For thousands of years, prior to modern civilisation, people have been living of the land, finding and hunting food, and building shelter. In this lesson, students explore ways in which they could possibly build a reasonable shelter using only the materials they would be able to find in the Tundra environment of Victoria Island. This would give students an insight into how the Inuit native people could have constructed shelter.

Manufacturers spend a lot of time testing and researching when figuring out what is the best material for use with their products. The same idea goes for the equipment that Chris & Clark purchased for their expedition. The revolutionary 'PAC' amphibious cart, designed and built by Chris & Clark, demonstrates their need for reliable transport that can cope with the Tundra terrain, carry all their equipment, and be easy to move. This lesson asks students to do a similar thing after being given a DIFFERENT terrain to deal with, students must design and create a model of a transport system that could be used to trek across that terrain, hauling their food, water and supplies.
