In July 2005, Chris Bray and Clark Carter travelled deep inside the Arctic Circle to do what no person before had done - travel unsupported across Victoria Island. While the goal was to cross the island, a journey of over 1000 km east to west, various setbacks and the extreme nature of the Arctic conditions prevented them from reaching their goal on the first attempt.
In May 2008 they will return to Victoria Island and complete what they set out to do three years earlier.
iiNet recognised the potential for this expedition to provide material for educators to assist in encouraging their students to follow this extraordinary journey.
On this site you will find 37 lessons, falling into the eight key Learning Areas identified in the modern curriculum, complete with background notes, outcomes, supplementary material and activities, all tied in to different aspects of the expedition which we hope will create a memorable learning experience. These lessons have been developed by West Australian award winning teacher Emidio Boto.
We hope you and your students enjoy following the expedition, if you have any questions or feedback about this material, please email us at: eco@team.iinet.net.au.
