Juice is a three-night creative writing retreat suitable for all levels of writing experience, including none.

Now in its third year, the retreat combines creative writing sessions with practical workshops, set in the lovely surroundings of Banksia Springs bush retreat in Dwellingup, a little over one hour's drive south of Perth.

Juice tutors are all professional writers with experience in a variety of genres. Workshops for the September 2004 retreat include editing with Janet Blagg, how to prepare a manuscript for submission to a publisher and the usual mix of creative kickstarting and time out for writing.

The focus at Juice is on providing participants with a weekend of learning and creativity in relaxed, friendly surroundings removed from the pressures of family and home.

Confirmed tutors for 2004

JANET BLAGGis a book editor of 20 years' experience and has edited childrenıs fiction, adult fiction and non-fiction for more than fifteen publishing companies in Victoria, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. She currently edits for Fremantle Arts Centre Press and is especially interested in the development of manuscripts. Recent award-winning Fremantle Arts Centre Press titles she edited include Michele Drouartıs Into the Wadi (2000, biography) andChristopher Murrayıs A Whispering of Fish (2000, adult fiction).

TRISHA KOTAI-EWERS is an experienced teacher of meditation and creative writing and draws on a wide range of spiritual traditions in her work. Since 1997, she has worked as a writer in residence with people with dementia and is currently writing a book on their words. She is currently undertaking historical research for a PhD at Murdoch and is President of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (WA).

What's included
The cost of $395 covers two nights' shared accommodation including bedding, bed linen and towels, all tuition and meals from dinner onThursday up to and including lunch on Sunday.

Camping
Campers and caravans are very welcome at the reduced cost of $345 per person. Non-participating partners cannot be accommodated.
